WHAT IS TECH?  Tech, or technology, or technicians, or technical, is all the things that are not the actors.  

It includes the set, the props, the sound and lights, video effects, special effects, and everything else!  

It’s a different kind of character in the story.

SOPAC holds select classes with the Career Ready program for production and entertainment industry, as well as two high school programs that teach theatre tech.  Students get hands on experience learning state of the art equipment.     

Every production we do incorporates students as much as possible to learn how to and run some of the sound, video and lighting equipment in the theatre.  They learn how to build lighting cues, and sound effects, and even projection. They learn how to use TECH to help tell the story. Ian and Ben, the two fellas that run the theatre love to teach the gear and totally nerd out sharing information with the students!

 Have you ever been to a show at SOPAC, or anywhere and said to yourself after,”wow, that was really cool!  I loved the lighting, or lasers, or video effects!”  That means the TECH did it’s job!
